Here's the thread I found after a quick search.... Although Flood Penetrol & Flood Floetrol serve the same purpose, Floetrol is used for latex paints whereas Penetrol is used for oil-based paints. Yes, you can add Floetrol to chalk paints to help them flow and reduce brush strokes. Yes, you can, but unlike water, Floetrol has the added benefit of making the paint easier to apply and conditions it as well. Any brand of interior or exterior latex or acrylic paint will work with Floetrol, so you can keep using your favorite paints and your tools should still be just as effective. By using this additive, you can ensure that your paint ends up where it’s needed with no brush marks or missed spots.

Used it on my fenders and hardtop, it's pretty much amazing stuff. There are numerous write ups on it throughout this forum....search "penetrol" and you will see before and after photos and a couple different ways to apply it. In the case of the jeep top, it just darkens faded colors - it is not colored itself.

Lubricating your paint reduces wear and tear on spray guns, which can save you money over time. This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Much, much better than ArmorAll or 303 Protectant that I used to use. My top was tan, and I painted the inside and out black.

Although Floetrol will not change the color or sheen in most paints, it will reduce the sheen in gloss paints. It can slow down your paint drying time, especially if you are using high concentrations or the product in humid temperatures. This can be a good thing if you want to slow down the paint drying time.
If you want to change the color you'll have to paint it, with something like Krylon Fusion.
